2019 IPS Recital – a huge hit!

A fantastic night of piping by Alastair and Margaret Dunn packed the room at the Holiday Inn in Ipswich on March 29 – huge thanks to our wonderful pipers and to all who supported the evening by attending.  Very nice review by Roger Huth in Piping Press

Red Nose Day in Ipswich

Well done to all of those who played despite the blustery conditions and occasional showers. The generous people of Ipswich donated a total of £208.43 towards the Red Nose Appeal.

The Piping Society Burns Night at The Bull in Bacton!

The Battle’s O’er

Society pipers from all over the east of England turned out at 6.00am on Sunday November 11 to join the international project which galvanised pipers everywhere to play the tune by a war memorial at the very time the Armistice was being signed in 1918.

Big Music Night

Ipswich pipers played a 15 minute set at Suffolk’s annual Big Music Night in Henley Community Centre on Friday October 12 – thanks are due to BMN for inviting us, to all the pipers who turned out to play, and especially to Alex Carruthers for putting the set together and cajoling a very respectable performance out of us!

Annual Recital 2019

Delighted to announce that the Society’s 2019 recital, on Friday March 29 at 7.30pm, will feature two great pipers – Alastair Dunn and Margaret Dunn.  Tickets for what is sure to be a great evening’s piping can be reserved by email

Pipes in the Park

Terrific day for Ipswich pipers at Pipes in the Park in Colchester on June 10.  Essex Caledonian, led by Pipe Major John Young, got First in Marching and Deportment, Second in March, Strathspey and Reel, Second in the Grade 3 Medley, and Fourth in the Grade Four March.  Six Ipswich pipers play with the band….

Rod Caird came second in the Amateur Piobaireachd Solo competition; at least five other members did great work stewarding on a beautiful day.  The event was better attended than ever.  Well done all.  All results from the day here.

What an Evening….

A fantastic evening of piping by Roddy MacLeod; the packed room was blown away by his skill and musicality…. Thank you to our latest Honorary Member of the Society!
