Angus MacColl – what an evening!

About 90 people from as far afield as the south coast and ranging in age from 7 to 94 were enthralled by Angus’ stunning playing on Friday March 20 at Ipswich’s Holiday Inn.  Marches, jigs, hornpipes, strathspeys and reels, airs; he just got his pipes going and played for us. A beautiful sounding bagpipe whose tuning never once flickered and a startling range of tunes. IMG_2489
Wonderful stuff and a real gentleman – now an honorary member of the Society.  His performance of Donald McLeod’s piobaireachd Cabar Feidh Gu Brath was a highlight for this writer; but Phil Cunningham’s lovely tune Sarah’s Song showed Angus’ extraordinary range.  What a piper, seen in the photo with the redoubtable Fred Russell, one of the first members of the society and still teaching piping at 94.
